Itinerary

Day 1Lviv

Arrival to Lviv airport, passport control, transfer to the hotel. In the evening, first walk through the town centre, currency exchange. Dinner and overnight stay in Lviv.

Day 2Lviv

Breakfast, city-tour of Lviv with a local guide: the Union of Lublin Mound (a viewpoint of Lviv), the Old Market Square, the Powder Gate, the Latin Cathedral, the Boim Chapel, the Armenian Cathedral, the Bernardine Church, the Lviv Opera House and two Orthodox churches: the Church of the Transfiguration and the Dormition Church.
Drive out of the centre: the Lychakiv Cemetery with its Polish military section. Return to the hotel, dinner and overnight stay.

Day 3Pochayiv, Kremenets, Zbarazh

After breakfast travel through south-western Ukraine to Pochayiv to visit the local Lavra (a monastery and church), one of the holiest places for both Orthodox and Byzantine-Catholic believers.
Drive to Kremenets, picturesquely located in a gorge between hills: the former Kremenets High School, Bona Hill with the ruins of the castle, holy mass. Transfer to Zbarazh: the rebuilt castle of the Wisniowiecki family, the Bernardine Church.
Dinner and overnight stay in the vicinity of Ternopil.

Day 4 Skala-Podilska, Khotym, Kamianets Podilskyi

Later, drive to Khotyn – the famous fortress over the Dniester River, the location of important battles in 1621 and 1671. Then, a short drive to Kamianets-Podilskyi: visiting the Polish Market with the Town Hall, the Cathedral of Saints Peter and Paul with its minaret, the Armenian Church, the Pauline Church, the King Batory Gate and other fortifications within the Smotrych River Canyon. Lastly, the Kamianets-Podilskyi Castle with the Castle bridge.
Dinner and overnight stay in Kamianets-Podilskyi.

Day 5Okopy, Kolomyia, Ivano-Frankivsk

After breakfast and check-out, drive towards the Carpathian mountains. A short stop in Okopy, picturesquely located where the Zbruch and Dniester rivers meet.
Then drive to Kolomyia – a town famous for its Pysanka (Easter Egg) Museum. Walk along the streets of Ivano-Frankivsk: visit the Town Hall, the Collegiate Church of the Blessed Virgin Mary, the Armenian Church.
Dinner and overnight stay in the Ukrainian Carpathians.

Day 6Rohatyn, Lviv

Drive to Rohatyn to visit the wooden Orthodox Church of the Holy Spirit, the old war cemetery dating back to 1920 and the Catholic Church of St. Nicholas for mass.
Drive to Lviv, in the evening an optional performance at the famous Lviv Opera (approx. 20 €).
Dinner and overnight stay in Lviv.

Day 7Drohobych, Truskavec

After breakfast, drive to Drohobych for the day; the city of Bruno Schulz. Visit the Town Hall and the Church of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary for mass. Visit the wooden Church of St. George, The Great Synagogue and the place where Bruno Schulz was shot. Short drive to Truskavets (formerly the second largest spa resort in Poland): visit the mineral springs resort, the 19th and 20th century villas. Return to the hotel, dinner and overnight stay in Lviv.

Day 8 Zhovkva

Breakfast and drive to Zhovkva (Zolkiew)– visit the Collegiate Church of St. Lawrence, and the wooden Orthodox Holy Trinity Church. Return to Lviv; some free time in the town centre.
In the afternoon, transfer to Lviv airport, check-in and flight back home.
